Sinéad Gleeson Wins Emerging Writer Award & Nominated for the James Tait Black Prize

Sinéad Gleeson's Constellations has won the Dalkey Literary Award in the Emerging Writer category. The judges felt that her debut essay collection, which delves into art, illness, ghosts, grief and our ways of seeing, was “easily one of the standout books in any field over the last 12 months.” Gleeson accepted her award via video saying she was delighted, “not just because Dalkey Book Festival is one of my favourite festivals but because it’s the first year of the awards. To be recognized for your work is always a wonderful thing, and, for me, just to get on a shortlist is enough, because you already know there have been a lot of people in this crowded field, and you got to the final part. I’m thrilled!”

On the heels of this news, it was also announced that Constellations has been nominated for the James Tait Black Prize in the biography category. This is recognizes the best work of fiction and biography during the previous 12 months, and it is the only major British book awards judged by literature scholars and students.
