How to be Human shortlisted for Desmond Elliott Prize 2018
RCW is thrilled that Paula Cocozza’s How to be Human has been shortlisted for the 2018 Desmond Elliott Prize.
The judging panel praised Cocozza’s work as having created “a persona as winning and wily as her invited guest.” Chair of the judges Sarah Perry added: “In evocative and elegant prose Cocozza delves deep into the psyche of a strange and troubled woman. The reader is invited to share in her intense connection to a fox and will admire the author’s mordantly witty dissection of contemporary manners.”
The prestigious Desmond Elliott Prize is awarded each year to an outstanding debut novel written in English and published in the UK. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on 20th June 2018.
