
Ian Rankin & Abir Mukherjee longlisted for Theakston Crime Novel of the Year 2021
The longlist for the 2021 Theakston Crime Novel of the Year has been revealed, and featured are Ian Rankin and Abir Mukherjee. Ian Rankin is longlisted for an incredible twelfth time, this year for his newest Inspector Rebus novel, A Song for the Dark Times (Orion). Abir Mukherjee is on the longlist for Death in the East (Harvill Secker), the fourth book in the Captain Sam Wyndham series which follows Sam as he travels to a remote temple in Assam looking for a cure for his addiction and spots a face from his past that reminds him of his first case as a policeman.
Voting is open and a shortlist of six books will be announced in June before a final winner is revelead on July 22 at the opening evening of the Theakston Old Peculiar Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate. The award is run by Harrogate International Festivals and sponsored by T&R Theakston Ltd, in partnership with W H Smith and the Express. It is open to full-length crime novels published in paperback between 1st May 2020 and 30th April 2021, and written by UK and Irish authors.
