Rebecca Fraser
Rebecca Fraser is an author, broadcaster and journalist.Her biography of Charlotte Bronte has been continuously in print since 1988.She featured in BBC 4 television’s ‘The Secret Life of Books’ discussing Jane Eyre with Bidisha. A People’s History of Britain has been translated into Chinese. It was described by the Telegraph as "an elegantly written,impressively well-informed single volume history of how England was governed during the past 2000 years."
Rebecca wrote the Introduction to the Everyman Shirley and The Professor and is a contributor to the BBC History website. Her most recent book, The Mayflower Generation : The Winslow Family and the Fight for the New World was a Times History Book of the Year. The Wall Street Journal said “There is nothing sleep-inducing about the chronicle crafted by Ms. Fraser, who knows a good story”, while the FT called it “addictively readable”.In the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower, Rebecca is speaking at many Mayflower400 events in Britain and the USA, including the National Trust Greenway Literary Festival.She has appeared at the Chalke Valley History Festival , the English Speaking Union,the Hay Festival,Henley Festival, Wells Festival and Buckingham.In America she featured on Ben Franklin’s World (the podcast for Early American History),the History Author show and national radio. She has written for the TLS, The Article, the Oldie and Standpoint.
