J.G. Farrell

J.G Farrell (1935 - 1979) was. British novelist of Irish descent. He gained prominence for his historical fiction, most notably his Empire Trilogy (Troubles, The Siege of Krishnapur and The Singapore Grip) which dealt with the political and human consequences of British colonial rule. 

The Siege of Krishnapur won the 1973 Booker Prize and Troubles (1970) won both the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize and - 40 years later - the Lost Man Booker Prize.
