Raymond Chandler, Estate of

Raymond Chandler was born on 23rd July 1888, in Chicago. He became a highly successful and revered crime novelist know for such works as The Big Sleep, Farewell, My Lovely and The Long Goodbye, and the character Detective Philip Marlowe. Chandler was also a Hollywood screenwriter, receiving Academy Award nominations for his work on Double Indemnity and The Blue Dahlia. He died in La Jolla, California, on 26th March 1959.
