Sam Miller

Sam Miller worked for the BBC for many years as a foreign correspondent and editor, and more recently as a Country Director for the organisation’s development arm, BBC Media Action. He is the author of Delhi: Adventures in a Megacity (2009) published by Jonathan Cape and Penguin India. The Literary Review described it as ‘the liveliest of city travelogues, a beguiling introduction to the Indian capital and an irresistible read for even the faintly curious’, while The Times said of it ‘Sam Miller’s talent is dizzying and his narrative a rich accomplishment’. His second book, A Strange Kind of Paradise: India Through Foreign Eyes (Jonathan Cape 2014), was described by the historian William Dalrymple as ‘a hugely entertaining history of the world's often confused dialogue with South Asia over three thousand years’. He is also the author of Fathers (Jonathan Cape 2017) a family memoir. The Times said of it ‘I can’t remember when I have more enjoyed a memoir… Fathers is a profoundly rich and rewarding experience.’
