Scott McKendry
Scott McKendry grew up in North Belfast. His poems have appeared in publications on both sides of the Atlantic, including Poetry London, The Stinging Fly, The Poetry Review, Magma and Virginia Quarterly Review. He is a recipient of the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award and his debut pamphlet, Curfuffle (The Lifeboat, 2019), was Poetry Book Society Autumn Choice 2019. His first full collection of poems, titled GUB, is due to be published by Corsair in February 2024.
In addition to poetry, McKendry writes personal essays and literary criticism. After working for some time as an electrician, he returned to education in 2011, eventually completing a PhD at Queen’s University Belfast. He’s currently a Lecturer of Practice at the Queen's University, Belfast. His critical work has appeared in the Irish Journal of Anthropology, Poetry Ireland Review, The Tangerine, and The Oxford Handbook of Irish Song, 1100–1850 (Oxford University Press, 2022).
