Elaine Everest
Elaine was born and raised in Kent and sets her gripping sagas in the same county, although Erith is now considered South East London. Her first book The Woolworths Girls (Macmillan) was an instant success on publication and has sold more than 100,000 copies. Elaine has since gone on to sell over 500,000 copies of all her books.
Elaine's eleventh novel in the bestselling series, A Christmas Wish at Woolworths (Macmillan, Aug 2024) takes place in 1953. The Woolworths Erith store, a beloved cornerstone of the community, faces closure if the December turnover fails to increase. And, as if store manager Betty Billington doesn't have enough on her plate, personnel shortages and a troublesome new employee add to the strife. With the store festooned with decorations, lifting the spirits of customers and Betty, can a Christmas miracle save their beloved store?
Elaine sadly passed away in August 2024.
