Alice Bloch

Alice Bloch is a writer and producer interested in attachment, dwelling, social values and their narratives. Her work and interests lie at the intersection of sociology, cultural studies and literature, drawing on a background including Social and Political Sciences and East European Studies - but also on personal experience spanning early motherhood, precarious work and time spent in the post-conflict Balkans. Alice's criticism has been published by The Times Literary Supplement, LitHub, New Humanist, Prospect and Geographical. In 2022 she was shortlisted for the London Library Emerging Writers programme. As a producer, making content for the BBC and others, she has skilfully illuminated the ideas of artists, writers and academics for large non-specialist audiences. In particular, she previously worked extensively on BBC Radio 4’s flagship sociology show, 'Thinking Allowed' and regularly produced the BBC World Service ideas show 'The Forum'. Now working for The Sociological Review Foundation, she collaborates with sociologists to communicate their ideas to curious listeners worldwide.

Her debut work of non-fiction, Why I Dwell, will be published by Icon Books.
