David Vann
David Vann is the author of Caribou Island, about a marriage going wrong in the wilderness of Alaska. His Legend of a Suicide, an international bestseller which won eight prizes, including the Prix Medicis Etranger, was translated into several languages, was be made into a film, was on 40 “Best Books of the Year” lists worldwide, and was selected by The New Yorker Book Club and The Times Book Club. His next book, Last Day On Earth: A Portrait of the NIU School Shooter, winner of the AWP Nonfiction Prize, was published in October 2011 in the US, and he is also the author of the bestselling memoir A Mile Down. Vann is a professor at the University of San Francisco and writes for Esquire, Outside, the Atlantic Monthly, Men’s Journal, the Sunday Times, the Guardian, the Observer, the Sunday Telegraph, and others.
