Jim Younger

Jim was born at the Elephant and Castle, London. His lifelong passions are writing and playing music. As a musician, he’s taken his concertina, fiddle, mandolin and guitar into theatre, television, radio, record studios, concert halls and clubs, all round the UK and Ireland, through Europe, and into Africa. He worked with Long John Baldry in pantomime at Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop, and with Martin Carthy at the RSC. He can be heard on the boxed set retrospective of Shirley Collins: Within Sound.

Jim is the author, or perpetrator if you will, of the novel High John the Conqueror, published in 2006 by Jonathan Cape. Jim is the holder of the Creative Writing PhD Scholarship at the Philip Larkin Centre for Poetry and Creative Writing, awarded in 2007 by the University of Hull, where he is busy writing another novel.
