Biography

Lucy Steeds is a novelist. Her debut novel, The Artist, was a Sunday Times bestseller and Waterstones Book of the Year 2025. It won the Waterstones Debut Ficiton Prize, was a finalist for the Barnes and Noble Book of the Year and the Barnes and Noble Discover Prize, and was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, the Walter Scott Prize, and the Author’s Club First Novel Award. The Artist has been translated into 20 languages.

Lucy has a BA in English Literature and a Masters in World Literatures from the University of Oxford, and is a graduate of the Faber Academy and the London Library Emerging Writers Programme. She splits her time between London and Amsterdam.
