David Runciman is Honorary Professor of Politics at Cambridge University and the author of many globally significant books about politics, including The Politics of Good Intentions, Political Hypocrisy, The Confidence Trap, Politics: Ideas in Profile, How Democracy Ends and Confronting Leviathan: A History of Ideas. He writes regularly about politics and current affairs for a wide range of publications including the London Review of Books. In 2007 he was shortlisted for the David Watt prize for outstanding contribution to political journalism. He hosts the podcast Past Present Future. His most recent books are The Handover: How We Gave Control of Our Lives to Corporations, States and AIs (2023) and The History of Ideas: Equality, Justice and Revolution (2024).
