Ed O'Loughlin was born in Toronto and grew up in County Kildare. Since 1994 he has reported on Africa and the Middle East for a variety of media organisations, including The Irish Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age of Melbourne, the Christian Science Monitor and The Independent of London. His first novel, Not Untrue and Not Unkind, was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize in 2009. He is also the author of Minds of Winter, and Top Loader. He now lives in Dublin.
