Biography

Jenny Diski (1947-2016) was born in London, where she lived most of her life. She was the author of ten novels, including Nothing Natural and Apology for the Woman Writing, and four books of travel and memoir, including the prize-winning Stranger on a Train and Skating to Antarctica. She published three volumes of essays, a collection of short stories, and her journalism appeared in many publications including the Observer and the London Review of Books, to which she contributed more than two hundred articles over twenty-five years. Diski’s last memoir, In Gratitude, documented her final years living with a terminal cancer diagnosis as well as her teenage years living in the home of the novelist, Doris Lessing.
