Laurence Laluyaux

Head of RCW International
Director & Literary Agent
Laurence Laluyaux was born in Paris. She studied French literature and taught French in the US before moving to England where she took an MA in Comparative Literature at University College London. She worked briefly as an interpreter before joining RCW Literary Agency where she ran the Foreign rights department and became a director in 2001. She is now developing RCW International which focuses on writers from around the world writing in many languages (including English). Laurence is interested in literary fiction and non-fiction that break down barriers and cross over languages and borders. She is particularly keen on voice-led books that play with form and genre and sidestep expectations. She works closely with translators and is open to submissions from all languages, preferably with a synopsis in English. Please write in for more details, the RCW International team reads ten languages so a translation sample may not always be necessary.
Her authors have won or been nominated for the Nobel Prize, the Booker International Prize, the National Book Award for Translated Literature, the Folio Rathbone Prize, the Goldsmith Prize, the Dublin Literary Award Prize, the James Tait Black Prize, The White Review Short Story Prize as well as prestigious international prizes such as the Swedish Academy Nordic Prize (Sweden), Nike Award (Poland), the Kossuth Prize (Hungary), the Manhae Prize for Literature (Korea), the Goncourt du Premier Roman and the Prix Medicis Essai (France), the Prix Femina (France), the Prix du Roman Fnac (France), the Premio Ribera del Duero (Spain), the Premio Herralde de Novela (Spain), the Jabuti Best Novel of the Year (Brazil), the Politikens Literature Prize (Denmark) and the Optimist Award (Iceland).
