Elizabeth Gifford’s ‘Secrets of the Sea House’ Shortlisted for Historical Writers’ Association’s Debut Crown for Best First Historical Novel

We are please to announce that Secrets of the Sea House by Elizabeth Gifford (Atlantic Books), will compete against Kate Worsley’s She Rises (Bloomsbury), A Capital Union by Victoria Hendry (Saraband), Petite Mort by Beatrice Hitchmann (Serpent’s Tail) and David Kirk’s Child of Vengeance (Simon and Schuster) for the £2,000 prize.

The 2014 shortlist was announced on Wednesday 4th June at the first HWA annual general meeting.

Fiona Benson, John Burnside and Kevin Powers are on the Forward Prize 2014 shortlists

Congratulations to Fiona Benson, John Burnside and Kevin Powers, who are all shortlisted for the Forward Prizes for Poetry 2014. Fiona Benson’s collection, Bright Travellers, is shortlisted for the Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection, as is Kevin Powers’s debut collection, Letter Composed During a Lull in the Fighting. John Burnside’s collection, All One Breath, is shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection. The winners will be announced on Tuesday 30th September.
