Bergthora Snaebjornsdottir

Bergþóra Snæbjörnsdóttir (b. 1985) lives and works in Reykjavík, Iceland. She made her literary debut in 2011 with Daloon days, a collection of poetry. Her second collection of poetry, Flórída, came out in 2017 and was nominated for the Icelandic Literary Award. In 2019 she published her first novel, Pighead, to critical acclaim. It received the Icelandic Women’s Literature Prize, the Icelandic Booksellers’ Literary Prize and was nominated for the Icelandic Literary Award. In 2022 her third collection of poetry won the Booksellers' Literary Prize and got the "Maístjarna" Literary Award of the Writers Union and National Library. Bergþóra has also dabbled in film making and has an ongoing, long term collaboration with visual artist Rakel McMahon as the performance duo Wunderkind Collective. They’ve shown their work in various venues and art festivals in Iceland and Europe.
