Daniel Beer is a senior lecturer and Russian specialist based at Royal Holloway, University of London. His debut, The House of the Dead: Siberian Exile Under the Tsars, was published by Penguin in 2017. It was winner of the Cundhill History Prize, shortlisted for the Wolfson History Prize, the Pushkin House Russian Book Prize and the Longman-History Today Book Prize. It was also named a Book of the Year by The Times, Spectator, BBC History and TLS Books.
