| Kate Muir is the author of Left Bank , a novel set in Paris, and Suffragette City. She is currently at work her third novel, West Coast, a moral tale which begins in a grim fishing village in Scotland and ends up in the excesses of the London art world.
Muir's earlier non-fiction books are Arms and The Woman, about women soldiers on the battlefront, and The Insider's Guide to Paris.
She was born in Scotland , studied law at Glasgow University and postgraduate journalism at Cardiff University. Muir became an interviewer for The Times in 1990, and went on to work as a foreign correspondent for the paper in New York, Paris , and Washington. She now writes a weekly column in The Times Saturday Magazine. She lives in North London, has three children, and is married to the writer Ben Macintyre.
