David Miller was born in Edinburgh and educated in Canterbury and Cambridge, where he read Theology & Religious Studies. Having worked for a year as a head-hunter, he joined Rogers, Coleridge & White in 1990, first working as the receptionist and becoming a director in 1997. His clients include Nicola Barker, John Burnside, Will Eaves, Nigel Farndale, Kirsty Gunn, Sam Leith, Magnus Mills, Victoria Hislop, Ferdinand Mount, Cynthia Ozick, Keith Ridgway, Martin Rowson, Robert Ryan, Ben Schott, Penny Smith, Kate Summerscale, Brian Thompson and Louise Welsh. He served as Treasurer of the Association of Author's Agents and, in 2008, was awarded the Orion Publishing Group Literary Agent of the Year Awards. He is an advisor to the new Creative Writing course at Edinburgh Napier University
